    Good thoughts and prayers

I just received a message that a dear friend who has cancer is "in extremis" in the hospital. That means she's nearing the end. She introduced me and my ex-DH (and we were together for 17 years) and was such an important part of my early adulthood. It will be hard for her DH and her daughter (in her late 20s). I just pray that she's not in pain and that she's in peace.

I to hope she is resting comfortably. I am sure she is. and it sounds like she has her loved one's there to comfort her as well. My prayer's are with her and her family to help give them strength and see them through this.

I fear the worst. The hospital could only tell me "that patient has been discharged." When I asked what that meant, they transferred me to a nurse on her floor and when I asked specifically, all she said is, "that patient is no longer here."

So I've called her husband, but there's no answer. I'm sure there will be a flurry of calls tomorrow. Tonight, I just wish everyone peace.

I wish I could offer more than just my good thoughts and prayers to you and your friend's family. It was obviously a gift to know her.

    Tulip,

Often, cancer patients who are quite close to the end are able to go home for the last days. Meaning discharged isn't neccesarily equivalent to deceased. Hope that's the case for your dear friend & her family. Wishing her a peaceful transition to what's next, and warm memories and loving family & friends to comfort her husband & daughter.

    Hugs!

Prayers and good thoughts for you, your friend and her family. That must be very hard for someone so young. I hope for peace for all involved.

Tulip: I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I just recently lost my good friend of 25 yrs to breast cancer. She was allowed to stay home and was with her entire family when she passed away. It was really very peaceful that way, and the hospice people are such angels. I hope that this peace will be for your friend, and I hope that you hear something soon to put your mind at ease. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her and her family.
