    February 2 Rides

It's cloudy here in Sandy Place Ranch, so I don't think the groundhog saw her shadow
I have to go to a coworker's memorial service this PM, so only got in 34 miles. Basically did the short version of the club ride, plus riding to and from home.

I did a quick 14 miles. The temps were chilly but the new jacket I ordered from Performance kept me nice and warm The skies were clear and blue with a strong wind blowing in from the south. It was a great day to be on a bike wish I did not have to rush home to sit and wait on the cable guy - still waiting.

A tough 19 miler for us.

Starting Temp in the low 30's, wind about 15 mph from the South, but the sun was full!

We averaged 15.8mph due to the wind.

19.63 miles on the Jamis. It was about 42 when we left, but wind gusts up to about 20 mph. The roads were in pretty bad shape; yesterday we had a really bad rain storm, so there were puddles everywhere. My husband has a terrible sense of direction... we planned a route and then he turned the wrong way when we got to a major intersection to head back toward home. I had to yell pretty loud because of the wind. We were on roads we ride all of the time, but going in the opposite direction.
I had one almost mishap where there were a bunch of potholes and water on Rt. 62 in Bedford and I skidded, but somehow got control of the bike. There were a lot of people out on road bikes, but I would never take my Kuota out when the streets are like this. I was, however, dressed correctly: regular LS jersey, my Icebreaker half zip, and wind jacket on top and Hind tights, Woolie Bully socks, and booties on the bottom.

The club rode 30 miles (hilly, too). They lured me out with the promise of 20 miles...Ha, knew they were lying.

Temps were in the lower 60's with slight wind.

    Beautiful day.

But last 6 or 8 miles I was miserable....new shorts, forgot chammy butr. Shorts too big...chamois too bulky.

    Oh, well, live and learn

I think I can see spring sorta coming, and my spirits are very lifted! Got in a short 14 miler at the lake. Wind was low (only about 10 mph- as opposed to the 3-40 mph winds we've been having lately). Temp in the mid 50's. Soooooo nice!
