    Ankle Sprain Aftermath

I had a moderate ankle sprain back in June. I don't have any issues now with pain or instability, but the area that had the worst bruising is still bigger (swollen?) than the same area of the other ankle. What is this? Is it something I need to be concerned with?
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

I had a similar problem last summer. When I went to my doctor for my annual check up, he flexed my ankle and said, basically, that at near-40, I won't heal as fast.

If it's much bigger, go to you doctor, though.

(I realized how long it took me to heal when my toddler's bruises would disappear in a couple days, but I have mystery bruises a week later.)

Have you tried soaking it in Epsom salts?

It never hurts to call the doc's office and ask them what they think. They'll know what they expect healing-wise based on the sort of sprain you had.

(and phone calls are still usually free! ) (although some docs around here are starting to charge for them)
