    waterproof jacket (again)

Forgive me for rehashing an old subject, but I have actually managed to come up with some specific questions to make it all more interesting

Long story short: I need a jacket
    a) to wear commuting when it's raining a bit too much for my not very water-resistant anymore Gore Phantom softshell, i.e. rides up to max 90 minutes medium to high intensity
    b) to have stashed pref. in a back pocket for all day road bike rides in case of a sudden shower.

So I reckon I need something that is cut slim and longbacked for road riding, absolutely waterproof, well vented but otherwise stripped of detail to make it as stashable as possible. I've been looking at these:
Gore Bikewear Oxygen (mens jacket, I reckon XS might fit)
    Gore Bikewear Alpine
and based on many recommendations here:
    Showers Pass Elite

Does anybody have any experiences pro or con they'd like to relate, expecially about the two first jackets in Gore-tex vs. the Event material in the last one? They're all really expensive, but I figure I've been earning myself a real rain jacket all those many times I got soaked and cold riding home...

According to my new boss, none of the goretex jackets is completely water-tight and breathable at the same time. No matter how much it costs. so perhaps go with the cheaper one?

LPH, Raleighdon got a showers pass jacket after observing me in mine for 1 year. He loves it. He rides for hours and hours in all kinds of weather and it works for him. we like the cut and it is definitely rainproof and helps you stay warm.

The newer ones have a nice front pocket too.

How about a paddling jacket (kayaking or canoeing style)? I got a Kokatat gore tex anorak last year. I use it for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. It's light and it keeps me dry. It's definitely waterproof. I don't know how the prices compare with what you're looking at.
