    Jacket or Vest?

Do you ususally wear more often a cycling jacket or vest or have a jacket/vest combination?

A windblocking vest on the front, mesh on the back. Over a couple of layers of wool.

Jacket backs make me too hot.

I wear a fleece lined wind proof jacket mid-winter on frosty or rainy days.

I have a long sleeved rain resistant jacket I wear on possibly drizzly but windy days.

I have a cycling vest for cold days that is mildly rain resistant. (Its got a mesh back too - I overheat really easily...

I have never worn a combination...

I wear a Gore Passion Plus windproof jacket/vest combo, but I hardly ever wear it as a vest unless I get really hot midride. I just bought a Nike vest though for running that I plan to wear on the bike, too.

In general I find vests to be more versatile, whether fitness walking, biking, or snowshoeing.

I usually wear a vest, unless it's reeeeeeally cold out. Vests are so versatile and non-restricting. Also, I don't often wear l/s jerseys...much prefer my arm warmers.

Both...but not at the same time.
    If it's really cold (30's, 40's)...a jacket.
If it's just sorta cold (low 50's?), I'll go with a ls jersey and vest.

Vests, hands down. As mentioned, they're more versatile.

My current favorite vest is the Sheila Moon fleecy one. I have a couple of voler windstopper vests (one is the AV one) and they're great, too, for a very cold day paired with the fleecy Sheila Moon arm warmers.

I tend to wear vests instead of jackets a lot in ordinary life (non-cycling) these days as well.

Gore windstopper jacket with zip off sleeves. I love this jacket! You can unzip a couple inches for a little ventilation, or take the sleeves off entirely. I would never have another bike jacket without zip-off sleeves.

Depends on the temperature. 48+, probably a vest. Much under 48. a jacket (wind/waterproof but not insulated at all). Under 32, a heavier, slightly insulated jacket (Sugoi Invertor jacket usually).

I just bought a MEC SuperMicroft Cycling Jacket last week and love it so far. It's very light and I didn't really think it would be warm enough but it is great. I've been wearing it with just a thin, long-sleeve t-shirt and have been hot enough that I've had to unzip.
