One of our "signs of spring" this year is our orphanage... a summer drought followed by a winter drought has meant many of our animals have died. We have been able to rescue two calves this year, with several attempted but unsuccessful rescues.
So Isis and Little Black are living on our tennis court (erected by previous owners and the fencing is ideal for animal babies - the area is grass, not tennis surfacing) have joined the lamb, Fat Sam.
We have Highland cattle, so the calves dotted around the farm look like overgrown teddy bears, and the lambs are starting to feel so good when they play they sound like a herd of horses charging the house...
Oh... and I have daffodils and narcissus. I bought the bulbs cheap in August as it was waaaaay past planting time. But I planted anyways and figured they'd have flowers next year. But instead I have spring flowers all over the place!!! For someone who is NOT a gardener this is very exciting!
