Selle An-Atomica vs. Brooks

I just got my An-Atomica on my bike. I LOVE it! For the first time I understand what they mean by "it just sort of goes away after a while." It really does. It is soft like a sling, but supportive in a nice way. I tilt mine down a touch to avoid pressure on my pubic bone and such. It is really nice! i had a brooks B17 for 5 minutes, but it was way too hard on the girlie bits. i hated it, good saddle, not for me. I would really suggest one to the rider looking for comfort.

I have this saddle and two of my main riding buddies have this saddle also.

And all three of us are different weights and shapes.

It is a great saddle for distance. I can ride for miles each week and not be thinking about the saddle.

I had a discussion with Brian, my LBS guy, about the SAA compared to the Brooks. He thought they were of similar caliber but that the Selle had an extra construction component of carbon. And it has a cutout.

He explained it a lot better that I just did, maybe someone else can help.

What is the width of the saddle at its widest point?

It's increasingly tempting for me to try it...

I have the Clydesdale version, as does another riding friend. However, the third riding buddy has the regular version, and it appears to be the same size as the Clydesdale. Thus, on my saddle, the greatest width is about 6 7/8". However, I estimate the actual sit-bone area to be 5 3/4" to 6".

I only had to make one adjustment on the saddle after installing it, and that is I moved the saddle back 1/2". The other cycling buddies made more adjustments than I did and are real happy with the results.

i love my brooks B17. comfortable right out of the box, and getting more so as the miles roll by. i tilted the nose slightly up to accommodate my riding position and it's been perfect since. never had trouble with bits or booty bashing.

cut-outs don't work well for me.

just goes to show, one saddle does not fit all.

I think Clydesdale has more to do with how the leather is treated than it does with the size...it is primed for a heavier body....same size...

I also didn't like the B17, but of course, the B67 is on all my bikes and it's not only comfortable, but beautiful too. I am glad to hear about women who are having good luck with the An-atomica saddle. My husband has one and he loves it.

Hi all - I am interested in the An-Atomica saddle and have looked at their website but I can't make heads or tails out of it. I understand they have women's specific saddles but could not find any listed. Any help y'all could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is the first I'd heard there were women-specific saddles. I met the maker of these things and he had a one size fits all attitude. he said something like 85% of his customers liked one size, so that's what he makes.

I think they only make them in widths. I wrote them recently.
