renting a bike in Indianapolis

Hi ladies,

I am headed to Indianapolis this AM for work for a few days and was wondering if anyone could give me a recommendation for a good bike shop where I could rent a bike for a couple of days. I'm staying near Carmel from the map but haven't been there before & would prefer something close since I won't be driving. I'm really hoping to get some riding in without having to resort to a stuffy hotel workout room & one of those boring go-nowhere bikes. Also, if any of you are in the area and up for an evening ride, give a shout!

These guys have rental bikes, I'm not sure if they have road bikes.

Thanks so much...they do rent road bikes. They have Giant OCR1s, & a variety of mountain/hybrid bikes. Apparently just got rid of their rental fleet and are building new bikes at the moment, so I couldn't rent one yesterday, but I get to pick one up tonight.

Thanks so much again, great site...wish I'd be around long enough for the ride tomorrow night! I really liked the article "Warm your heart when passing a gasoline station" on the commuting part of the site.

The bike shop was wonderful and the bike they gave me was brand new, never ridden (OCR2s this year, though.) I rode a great 30 miles, along the Monon trail and then getting lost on the way back to my hotel. My class ends early tomorrow so I'll get another good ride in before I have to take the bike back. Riding up 82nd to the trail was wild, though. I haven't had 'get on the sidewalk!!!' yelled at me so many times all year. Oh well, smile and wave, smile and wave.

I'm *so* thankful for your help, I wouldn't have found that bike shop without your suggestion and they were really wonderful. They gave me a map & ride suggestions, loaned me a spare pair of clipless pedals (oops), gave me an extra water bottle, 100% top-notch service. Renting the bike turned an otherwise boring business trip into a really fun adventure. It totally made my week.
