HALT! animal repellent

I ordered some along with the HALT holder. How in the heck does this clip on your handlbar? The larger side clips and holds the can. The smaller side is really too small to clip on the handlebar. What am I missing?

Do you have standard drop bars? If so, it will fit, I promise (I have one). You do have to push kinda hard to get it on there, but once on, it stays. You wouldn't want it too loose!

Good luck -- and here's hoping you never have to use it. It makes me feel better just having it there, within easy reach.

I have a little vial of pepper spray without a holder. I use one of those short 3" loop bungy cords with a ball on one end. I loop it around my stem and tuck the spray in one strand of the elastic, holding the spray vertically snug against my stem. Very handy to grab and it stays out of the way.

Don't forget to bring the spray in with you if you go into a store, bathroom, etc. You do NOT want some kid fooling with it on your bike, spraying themselves, getting hurt, and possibly suing you as well. Do not leave it unattended on your bike in public places.

BE SURE THE SPRAY CAN REALLY WORKS! I bought some from Nashbar too, and recently my husband tried to use it and nothing came out! A new nasty dog moved into our neighborhood, and managed to get our heels in his mouth yesterday, kind of scary. So, today DH went out with a water bottle full of vinegar and cayenne to teach him to avoid chewing on cyclists feet while they are riding!

Oh yes!- be sure to TEST your spray in a safe place before you depend on it. Test it once a year at least. And I think it actually expires after a couple of years, so replace it once in a while.
