    24 hour racing..

The race - Hot August Nights at Albion Hills (www.chicoracing.com) the race course was roughly 16 km, but i am still not sure...

Team Machine head racing placed second, this time with me as their fifth rider. We missed first by only 8 minutes, fighting back from 20 minutes earier in the morning.

The race course was fast and flowy and the single track was loads of fun

For me, it was an interesting experience...i did the start lap, as no one cared for the traffic of the mass start, and i didn't mind it. I did it in 1:04, which included the bottle necks and the extra climbing in the start lap. My second lap i did in 1:01, only one minute slower than two of my team mates (usually i am ten minutes or so slower!). I was hoping to break 1:00 and i kept repeating 59:59 in my head, even visualizing it on the computer, at least i came in close at 1:01...

My first night lap i had some light "issues". It was actually kind of funny - hubby and i were sharing his HID (niterider) and when i was using it, the light was so dim! I was getting so mad, "THIS IS WHAT HE USES??" i thought. what a piece of $$! then i thought my LED light is brigher than- GAH i had it in LED mode, one extra click and a BIG AHA as the whole trail was nicely lit for me. So night lap one was 1:08, and night lap two i started hurting a bit, and did in 1:15. My 1:08 was NOT the slowest during that rotation, and my 1:15 was only 4 minutes slower than anyone else...so here i thought i was slowing things down, when in fact - was having a GREAT RACE! But hubby and team mates decided that we were too close to first so the fastest guys should go - which at the time meant NOT ME. My ego is a little bruised, as it doesn't feel terribly great when you are told you are too slow, but anyway....

We place 2nd, had fun and only a couple of wipe outs...my body is very very sore after the weekend a little sore shoulder where one tree JUMPED out (i swear it did! ) in front of me during my second lap.

How did everyone elses 24 racing go?

Wow- that sounds like such fun!!! There is a 24 hour race in October that I'm seriously considering. Not that we'll have any chance of winning anything- but I think it would be fun just to try.
Thanks for the great report- you and your team did AMAZING! Slow things down- HA! You were the one keeping things going!
