    Sidi size advice needed today!

Sierra Trading Post has a great deal on some Sidi Zeta Carbon shoes. They are men's. They're 50% off but the sale ends tonight. I've been seriously wanting new road shoes but I'm doing the student thing right now and can't justify spending too much on them.

I have a pair of Sidi Blaze (women's) mountain shoes (lowest end Sidis!). They're a size 39 and they fit well -- there's no toe wiggle room at all, but they are comfortable to ride in and walk in and I've had no numbness issues. I also have a pair of really cheap Shimano road shoes in size 39. They fit correctly, but are sloppier than my Sidi's.

So two questions -- do men's Sidi's fit differently than women's Sidi's? I'm guessing I should order the same (Euro) size I'd order in a women's shoe -- yes? Should I expect them to run wider?

The other question: I wear a 7.5 to 8 in women's shoes. I've read a few threads on Sidi sizing on TE and it seems like lots of folks with feet that are a similar size to mine order much, much larger sizes in their Sidi's. My 39 Blaze's fit well, but are very snug as I mentioned before. I rode in them today just to confirm the fit (since I've been wearing road shoes most of the summer) and they are perfectly comfortable to ride in, but seem snug when I do the poking/prodding shoe fit thing. Wondering if it's crazy to just order a 39, or if I ought to go bigger -- 39.5 or 40...
    Thanks!!!

My guess on sizing is that the men's 39 would be the same length as the women's, but probably wider. Sierra Trading Post is really easy for returns...they put that pre-paid label in the box so it's only $5 or $6 to ship stuff back. Maybe you could order two pairs in different sizes and then just send back the pair that doesn't fit?

sorry no one has replied and I'm not sure if I am qualified to respond. I normally wear around a 7. I have wide toes and might otherise size up to a 7.5 if I don't want pinching in certain shoes. In my Sidis, I wear a 38.5 in mens so that I can have a little more toe room as compared to the women's. You know I also take a little more room in my shoes because I don't like it when shoes fit like slippers. The man at the bike shop said that the men's and womens are the same and when they did not have my Sidi size in women's he switched me to the mens. I hope this in anyway helps.

I wear a 7 in street shoes, but my women's Sidis in size 39 are just on the edge of being too small - they fit like a 6.5. I can't imagine them fitting anyone who wears a 7.5 to 8 in street shoes. I also have a hard time believing the mens' and womens' Sidi sizing is the same as that is very unusual - I normally wear a couple sizes smaller in mens' shoes. This is something I'd be very careful about ordering online unless I was prepared to pay the reverse shipping to return them.

    Good luck!

As far as I know, men's Sidi sizes (the length) are supposed to be exactly the same as women's. What changes is the fit -- women's are supposed to be narrower at the heel and wider in the toebox. That's the beauty of Euro sizing.

I use 41.5 women's Genius 5's (road) and men's 41.5 Dominator 5's (MTB) and they both fit really well. The fit feels ever so slightly different, but in terms of length, they're the same. I actually prefer the men's D5's to the women's I had before because with the women's shoe, my forefoot sort of leans & slides to the outside of the shoe (laterally). Oh, and I wear both with thick socks (DeFeet Cush 3D's) which keeps my heel from slipping and gives me a snug fit without jamming my toes.

According to Sidi's sizing ruler, you're between a 39.5 and a 40.0. From what you described, I would go with a 39.5 if they have it.

By the way, I've uploaded Sidi's sizing ruler. I think it's pretty accurate.

    Hope this helps,

    Cari
