Sounds sad. I'm feeling sad already.
A jealous boyfriend said, "No more riding!"? A broken limb? A new baby and no time to ride again? A new job and a bike languishing in the garage? A tragic accident? A bf who forced the biking issue, and a rider who didn't want to ride in the first place?

Edit: what size is the Symmetry? Steel or aluminum?

Maybe it's a happy story she won the Lotto and upgraded to a Surly with a Brooks along with 10 other bikes and now with 12 bikes something had to go ... oh wait, keep the Terry and get a bigger house

welcome to TE, when you get a chance surf on over to the "getting to know you thread" or we'll just continue to make things up about you

Me too for various reasons. Some things don't seem in line with the norm...then again I'm naturally skeptical. I hope to be proven wrong.

I thought the same when I first read it. First-time poster, no photos, ultra-low price. It could be on the level, but could also be a scam. If anyone does pursue it, make sure to check the seller out, get photos of everything, a serial number on the bike, etc. I would be very careful with this. If it's for real, it's an awesome opportunity.

No size on the bike, term "flat tire pack", Shimano petal {sic} clips and no previous posts. Most telling? A phone number. Out of all of the times I've read posts here, which is far too often granted, I have never seen someone post their phone number.

Yellow jersey, orange bike, and pink helmet? Sounds like a colorful combo for sure

I know people say be careful of scams... I'm super interested. I have been playing phone tag with Christine. She sounds nice (I know, I'm a big sucker). Anyway, she's in the 310 area code, and my mom lives in Orange County, Ca. I'm thinking I'll send my poor mom to give the money and pick up the bike. Does anyone have any great insight about shipping a bike? Mom's are so great! I mean I wouldn't ask anyone but a great friend or my mom to brave the traffic up to LA to check out a bike for me

Ginny, re: shipping a bike, just take it to a bike store. (call first)
but most bike stores will pack your bike AND get it picked up by UPS for not a lot of money.

It doesn't necessarily sound like a scam to me. I've seen a lot of posts like this in my local area - people who try to like biking but it's just not for them. When they go to sell it, they either have someone else do the posting, or they just aren't that experienced and don't use all the accepted lingo. Plus, why not offer a deal? If someone is getting out of cycling all together, they certainly won't need the shoes, shorts, etc.

I don't think it means she's not on the up and up.

I hope it works out for you, Ginny! I own two Terry's and I love both of them.

So, I finally spoke with Christine. The bike is only 44 cm (she thinks) that's way too small for me... bummer! Ah well, there's always ebay! Just in case anyone else is interested, that's the frame size. Thanks for the shipping advice!
