thinking about a lighter saddle

So when I had my saddle off for our trip, I weighed it. 325g. So I was thinking that I could shave some grams off by replacing it with a lighter saddles.

I have the stock saddle on both my bikes, the same one. It's a bontrauger Race.

I'm thinking about getting the San Marco Era Composite which weighs 138g.


Any thoughts? How do I go about figuring this out?

I just ordered a Brooks for my CrossCheck (apparently the regular B17 is actually heavier than the B17S, so I'm adding weight...), so I'm no help to you

The Terry Falcon X (or Falcon Y if you prefer a narrower saddle) is very light and well-regarded by many on this board. Might be another option to look at if you prefer a saddle with a cut-out. Good luck!

I was hoping to get something that weighed less than 150g thinking that more than that wouldn't really be worth paying more for the weigh savings.

I do laugh at myself sometimes for my constant consideration (obsession) of how to lighten my bike.

So maybe the criteria should be a dollar per gram (of weight decrease) ?

A nice-looking saddle (I think anyway), 135 grams, and I think it's pretty comfortable (I've never ridden it for any great distance, but I have ridden it on bikes that I've test-ridden, and I liked it).

Also, I think the Selle San Marco Aspide Composite is super sexy:

and only 100 grams. But I'm not sure I'd ever be hard-core enough to ride a carbon saddle with no padding or covering at all...
