    Lordy Lordy

    Hey ladies!!

I just got back from a solo ride on the C&O. Did Whites Ferry to Great Falls. I am a walking ache!!!!! Quads, hands, neck, places I''d forgot I had..... But I did it. I know for yall racer types thats not a long distance, but for me I was ecstatic. I did it on a hybrid, and it was one of my goals to do some of the C&O. I'll eventually get to Harpers Ferry... But I forgot...20 miles up is also 20 miles back!!!

sounds like a great ride. Any idea how high you climbed? (I'm not familiar with the C&O)

Now it's time to be a "lying down ache" for a while...you've earned it!

You sound like a candidate for a multi day ride I'd like to put together. Georgetown to Cumberland, carrying all own own gear and camping for three, maybe four nights. A lot of logistics involved here but it can be done.

Kalidurga will be there, I'm sure.
    Regina?
    Slug?

Lets say June or July 2009. Bring lots of bug spray.

    Why not 2008?

Although I own tent, camping equipment, etc, it's not something I generally go out of my way to do. I did it when necessary for rock climbing. I'd prefer the idea of riding from inn to inn.

    why not '08?
I guess there won't be much else to do this winter except think of things to do when it gets warm.

Inn to inn end to end? How many miles could we do in a day while still going slow enough to enjoy the ride?

Good for you! I want to one day make it out to the C&O myself. Dare I say all the way out to Pittsburgh?

Oh, hard packed gravel! No wonder everything hurts. I thought chip-seal was hard on the joints and the sitter, but that looks like a really bumpy ride. Beautiful, but bumpy. There is some satisfaction in, as Lisa mentioned, being a "lying down ache"...

40 miles is a good days ride!

look at it like this, when you get to Harpers Ferry you can cross the railroad bridge and have a nice lunch.

Let me know when you want to do that, I've been wanting to for ages.

That is something I frequently forget to add into the calculations. DRAT! Ya mean we gotta ride back, too? Where's the bus?

But well done, Dingster1! I hope you took a well deserved break and enjoyed your accomplishment.

And, Zen...I have to join Tam's ranks on the camping thing. Great in theory - not so great in practice. A B&B is roughing it for me.
