    Question about clothing/shorts

This might be a REALLY dumb question and could probably just be answered by my going to REI and sticking my hand inside the Danskin one-piece trisuit that they have right now, but since it's 12:30 am and my curiosity is getting the best of me...

I'm assuming that some tri-clothing is made to be worn throughout all 3 events. In which case, the shorts must have some sort of padding inside for the biking part??? And if so, how does that feel while swimming, or running for that matter? Or are the shorts just not heavily padded? Just curious- if I actually do this, it's nice to know in advance what I'll need, gear-wise.

I have been printing off various training programs for swimming/running and tips on biking (how long of a ride, how many times per week, etc) and am going to combine them into an overall program this weekend, so that I can start afresh on Monday. I actually went and swam on Thursday morning at the gym and didn't fare nearly as poorly as I expected. I'm not particularly fast, but I definitely was not as fatiqued as I thought I'd be. This might actually happen...

Tri-shorts tend to have a pretty light padding.

That being said, I don't wear tri-shorts. I wear compression shorts for the swim and dry bicycling shorts for the bike and run. (over the wet compression shorts)

I have Zoot TriFit shorts. It has a fleecy pad instead of the typical pad. I haven't noticed it at all during my runs. I haven't yet tried it for a swim.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

    Hi there,
I have a tri suit that I have been training in, and will wear tomorrow. It has very light weight padding. You should not notice it during the swim or run. I am usually so focused on the bike leg that I don't even think about it.
I will let you know how it wears after tomorrow.

Last year I did a 6 hour adventure race, and I wore tri shorts and a top. The shorts were soaked after the first leg of the race which was paddling. I wore them through the mt bike and the run and the ropes course and they were totally comfortable.

Tri shorts... the padding is a joke. I just go into the race knowing that my butt will hurt on the ride. I can suffer for 10-25 miles. That's how I see it.

Otherwise, I only train in proper bike shorts. My butt can only take so much pain in one lifetime.

Good luck on your training! You can do it! Stay focused and you will be ready to race.
