    Low fundage...need opinons!

Ok, I know there are ton's of posts about a good lycra padded short. However, the funds are dropping DH started his MBA classes and I'm starting back to school so the bike funding is dropping rapidly! So, if anyone can give me an idea of a good short, that is somewhere around, say $45-50 bucks maybe even less if possible. I know Team E has a Cannondale short for like $40 but I don't know, I 'd appreciate it.
I bought a pair of padded bibs off ebay, that I really like, but they have have a lot of print down the side which I wear when I spin at home, but I want something more....modest for riding outside.

    Jenn,
I would suggest going to Nashbar.com, they always have sales, right now they have lots of shorts at the price you are looking for. Last year I ordered one of their DeMarchi shorts they have similar chamois to SSS shebeest shorts but they run small and I returned them. Otherwise these are nice shorts. Also, www.coloradocyclist.com had shebeest elite distance shorts for 50$ which is a very very very nice short but they sold out, I was lucky to get 2 pairs. Sugoi Lucky short is also another alternative, they are not for longer distances though. I am sure other ladies will suggest more options. Hope this helps.

I know KSH loves the PI SUgar Shorts. I am pretty sure I have some with the same chamois and it is really nice. The lycra isn't overly supportive, but the good chamois for the price is a fair trade.

I have some Cannondale "Climb" shorts and I really like them. I *think* REI had them for $50 or less? They are supportive and have a good chamois.

Performance has the elite and ultra shorts on sale now for around 40 or 50.00. These are my favorite shorts. PI's 3D chamois is nice also, which are in my Pi Knickers and recommend them if you are looking at purchasing those also.

I sure do! I also like the fact that they have a 6 inch inseam- great for someone with short legs like myself.

    Great deal at around $45.

You can get them here on TE: http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=17192

Did you look at the PI Sugar Shorts on TE? I have not tried them, but I seem to recall talk about them. I usually buy mine on sale or closeout. Others who will be much more helpful will respond. I like Sugoi for running, but I have never tried their chamois. I noticed there were several styles and brands on closeout. My favourite shorts are Shebeest.

TODAY ONLY (so they say) Nasbar is having a 50% off sale on clothing... I saw they have the PI Breakaway short for $50 (retails for $100).

I recently bought this short and I THINK I like it. It has front and back panels made from Ultrasensor fabric and the 3D race chamois... The fabric feels nice and the cut is flattering (unlike some PI shorts imo, too many contrast seams are NOT flattering on curvy hips/bottoms). The chamois is nice and padded, but doesn't stick out on me -- however, it's the teeniest bit too wide between the legs for me, and chafed on my first ride. After riding and washing a few times, it seems to be better though. They're a nice length, I think 6 3/4", not too short and not too long.

    Might be worth a try...
