    Children and Group Rides Question

Normally I have a standing babysitter for my Thursday night group ride. However, this week my babysitter cancelled and I haven't been able to find anyone else. I would consider not going, however, it's triathlon night! There's going to be a pro triathlete riding with the group and afterwards he's going to talk about training and stuff--I really, really, want to go.

I am considering showing up with the burley in tow. Obviously I would not even attempt to ride with the B group--that would just be silly. But would it be rude of me to do the C group ride? The C group is much more casual and ride only about 25 miles at a 15 to 16 mile pace.

The other option is, I start with the C group for the first mile that we are in town, and then I hop onto the bike path to do my own ride, and then meet up with everyone back at LBS for the tri talk.

    What do you ladies think?

It's really up to you. can you GO that fast that long towing your tot?

If you were on a ride with us, we'd flirt with your little one and enjoy your company if you could keep up, but if you were way way slow, we would not enjoy having to wait all the time.

Gosh, I never expect anyone to wait for me on the Thursday ride. I know my way. If I get dropped, I'm dropped. No biggie.

Many club and group rides have rules prohibiting trailers. Check with the organizers or ride leader, or just ask before the ride.
For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.

    Love my LBS

I emailed my LBS, this is the response I got:

I looked in the rule book. All I can find is that you get double points for bringing the trailer. If you can beat the triathlete
the point total climbs by a whole exponent. See you there!

I did it all the time when the group was cool with it, and when the rides were on trailer safe routes. It's hilarious passing people who think themselves fast and them making them work at 'saving face' while pulling a trailer.
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.
