    Wind +hills =HELL

Well, thought I'd get a head start on the bad weather and was out the door at 6AM leaving Dh and DD sleeping. There was a slight breeze feeling strong, I thought let me go to the south gate and do the hills out there. As I passed a wind sock by the flight line it was kinda moving nice breeze, then OMG, coming back I don't know what kind of sick joke it was but this wind from the south was unreal. As if I was in front of one of those fans they use on movie sets. I was already crawling up some of the hills the computer said 4mph but it's still not working right, so I know I was probably doing more like, .5mph
    I was a MASSIVE SLUG!
Anyway got past them turned north and woohoooo hauling butt the wind was GREAT. I got in 30 miles and DH was standing outside when I got home like OMG, I didn't think you'd be out that long. Anyway, turned on the weather we have 20-25 mph winds with up to 32 mph gusts, well, they were gusting my butt!!!Got a good work out though my quads were screamin' I'll sleep good tonight.
The funny thing is DH has gone out in it and it's gotten worse, I told him just go North as far as you want then call me to come and get you because it will take you hours to get home!

I can relate. Seems like it has been windy here since December or so. Had a couple rides in 40-50mph gusts. As I said before, I can take them when they are head or tail winds, but crosswinds are the worst.

You go girl. Doing hills in a windtunnel will make you strong!

Oh, I agree, at least head on you can shift down and push and dig into it, and just pray to change directions!!! Coming down the main road I was moving along and a side gust caught me, and that was the first time that the bike felt like it moved out from under me.....crazy!
Well, you are battling some good winds in VA, so I shan't complain~
Although I have to admit, when I had to go pick up DH they had a wind advisory of 50mph+ gusts and dust and sand was everywhere, thank goodness DH was wearing BRIGHT GREEN or I wouldn't have seen him.
Heck with this spring stuff, bring on SUMMER!

    crazy winds!!
My SO is in ABQ and he and I were debating who had the worst winds the other day(I am in south florida).
Anyways, I think you guys definitaly had me beat!
I am moving out there next month, we should go ride! I would love to have another female to ride with!(even though I know I will die from the altitude and climbs for a little while/the fact that i am just coming back from almost 2 months off from a knee injury)

Oh that would be GREAT!! It's ironic I was just telling DH I wish I had another woman to ride with, because we are so competitve when we go out to ride together it's NOT fun.
The wind here got REALLY bad. I had to go pick up DH because the gusts were getting up to 50-55MPH and more. When I got up to the mountains there was another cyclist there, and we gave him a ride to.
