As a matter of fact, IFJane and I paid Jeannie a visit this past Saturday after Jane drove down from the (literally) snowy mountains and met DH and me to watch the US Open Pro championship races from Capitol Hill and the Libby Hill climb...in freezing cold, wind and, for a while, snow. (The women's and men's races were just awesome, BTW.) Jeannie, Jane and I then watched the delayed-broadcast end of the men's race on TV in Jeannie's room.
Jeannie is making steady progress and can now sit up in bed, transfer herself to a tilting wheelchair, get to the bathroom all by herself and swing back into bed from the wheelchair using a trapeze bar (not quite as XGames as it sounds!). She's doing very well with her therapy, which as you might imagine, is putting a lot of emphasis right now on upper-body strength. Her spirits are wonderful, and it's a real treat to see her looking and sounding so encouraged by how well her recovery is progressing. She's crediting her success to the condition she was in from cycling and running. The bulletin board in her room is covered with cards, many of which are from you guys. Jane took a great photo of Jeannie which she'll post when she's back in the office later this week. Jeannie looks like a completely different person now - grinning and waaay cheerier, with clean hair, too! Go Jeannie!
Oh yes, Jeannie told us that her SO had built up her new bike and brought it in for her to gaze upon. She is hoping to be riding it by September. We are all counting on meeting each other at the Great Peanut Ride that month. Any others of you go to the Peanut? That'd be a fun opportunity for a TE reunion.
I will give Jeannie a call and go see her tomorrow or Friday. Will be happy to convey greetings from TE. If you feel like sending a card or note to say hey, she always loves those.
Thank you KayTee. That's great news. Please let her know that we continue to think of her and wish her the best. It's great that she gets to look at her new bike.
I sent her a card when she was in the hospital but it came back to me last week. Please tell her I did send her one! But sence I do not know her home address I could not forward it again. It had butterfly's on it for butterfly kisses!
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.
> Remember to appreciate all the different people in your life!
I'll be happy to pass that along. In the meantime, for anyone who'd like to mail Jeannie a hello, here's her current rehab center address:
