Back from Mexico!!

Oh my gosh, my fear of flying was NOTHING compared to the trip we had to Taxco, a valium and a beer even though we had MASSIVE turbulence going in, it was fine!!!
We had a WONDERFUL time, the people down there were so great. Coming back to the states, makes me realize how arrogant and rude Americans are. A part of me misses the people in Mexico and the culture. We were there during holy week and the processions were beyond words.
The cobblestone streets are not bike friendly at ALL nor are the 90 degree hills since the city is built into the side of a mountain. However, there were some mexican boys about 40 of them with rosary beads on , riding bikes.....we called it the Tour De Taxco. They wore sandles, no helmets and some had not seats...but they were on bikes!!!!!
Thank you all for the words of encouragement for the flying and the I don't remember who said it, but fear of flying should not prevent you from seeing the world. Even though the flight was rough, it was SOOO worth it.
I wish I could say I'm happy to be home, and I am as far as my daughter goes, but I miss the laid back, easiness, and comfort of sitting on a balcony looking over the beautiful town (which I will post when I figure it out) and having a Cerveza.

So fantastic you grabbed your fear and gave it a good shaking and you didn't allow it to prevent you from sucha fabulous experience.

While I don't wish you more feelings like those you experienced on the flight, I wish you the same bravery should another travel opportunity present itself.

So... you did ride on those 90' cobblestone streets? I assume you hired something?

And as for those boys riding without seats... it reminds me of the Tour of the Bay fun-ride a couple of year back. One of the riders doing the 100km (the fun ride, not the open) had his seat break off half way through - but he completed without the seat - standing most of the way and resting his but on the bar occasionally... amazing effort to me as at that time I had just completed the 10km with my sons and had doubted I could ride that far - let alone stand while riding!

Welcome Back! I am so glad you had fun! Post pics if and when you can. Yes, it takes leaving the country to realise just how rude Americans can indeed be. Thank goodness not everyone is rude.
