    MS walking and TE

    Hi all:

I thought I would start this thread so that you could hear about all the progress we are making for the MS walk on April 28. First off let me take this time to thank-you all once again for your generous donations, it is very much appreciated...you all give me strength and hope.

Right now me and my walker can tolerate about a mile. I currently have both legs in braces, we hope that immobilizing my right leg will make my left leg stronger. When my right leg is free I can tolerate about a mile and a half of walking...this is GREAT progress. My PT doctor has also let me get on the stationary BIKE!!!! YES!!!!!!!!! When I am home I can use the trainer we have set up. I almost died from happiness. It has been 15 months since I was "allowed" to get on my bike. My husband was so happy he cried with me and my son took pictures. (We are a bunch of weenies!!!) I walk every day, even in this bloody cold weather, (Corsair, I have gotten stones like you). Sadie, them wrist warmers are working out GREAT under my Pearl gloves. I am working hard towards my goal of 6-9 miles for the walk . I have taped pictures of my friend and my late father on my bike and my walker... they are my sources of strength and encouragement!!!

    Love to you all!!!!

Jeez, what an inspiration!!! We are all with you in spirit, and wishing you success--you sound like the just the lady to achieve it.

I sprained my knee this morning and it had me in such a grumpy mood--your story really puts that little teeny tiny injury right into perspective for me. You go, BikeBabe!

Wow I should get you and my good friend Jim together. He has MS too and always amazes me with he's strength and will to keep going! We did a final bike trip with him last year. 245 miles he rode with us. And never complained even on the mornings I knew he was having a really hard time. But after that trip he has to cut way back which I know was hard for him just to much pain to go like we were day after day. I am so gratful we got to have such a wonderful trip with him though!. But he is still biking but not a as long a rides. I am sending you good strength waves to help you reach your goal! Rock on! And you are not weenies! Crying is excellent! Keeps you sane!
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.
