    Unhappy Vacation Woes

I went on a whirlwind tour of family members. In-laws, cousins, parents etc. On new years eve (last night seems a long long time ago) my kids got the stomach bug. Gross details to follow:

Vomiting began precisely at 10pm and continued until 4:30 am. 11 vomits between the 2 of them. 3 loads of laundry by 2 am. Much carpet cleaner and febreeze used. Pink stains still visible on grandma's white carpeting.

As if that wasn't fun enough, I had to wake up at 8:30am to get ready to go to the airport. The little one had to be placed in a wheelchair to get from check in to the gate. Both travelled carrying open plastic bags. Little one vomited on the floor of the airplane as soon as she sat down. This despite having 25 airline barf bags and 2 plastic grocery bags at her disposal. I love crawling around on the floor of the airplane to do clean up.

But thank god we are now home. Whew. Both girls are out cold on the couches. How I'd love to go to sleep too!

Well, Happy New Year everyone. Stay away from the stomach bug! I hope it doesn't catch me.

You mums are just amazing - you deserve a medal for surviving that, doc, as well as a long long sleep!

Wow! That makes my screaming one year old flight back from Hawaii look pleasant.

    Hope everyone gets well soon!

    (((((((((((((((((Doc)))))))))))))))))))))

Glad you are all home now. May the wee ones feel better soon, may you not get the bug, and I do hope you get some rest.

Oh Doc... I really know what you're talking about.

I have 5 kids within a 7-year time frame, and one of the "milestones" of being a parent was when each child could wake up and get themselves to the bathroom before they threw up in their beds or on the carpet... YAY!!!

One of the absolute blessings of a lesson I learned which has saved noses, carpet and money is baking soda.

I always have a couple of boxes in the pantry, despite only needing it in 1/2 to 1 teaspoon lots when cooking.

Sprinkle liberally on vomit spot on carpet, in quilt, on car upholstery - leave to dry and then vacuum... no smell!!! Brilliant.

Wishing you a vomit-free 2007, sounds like you have had your share for the year.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
