Anyone know any good Drs in Portland area?

Hi there!

First of all ... a little about me. I am a 30 yr old woman who has been cycling for 5 years now (wow, time flies!). I have been competeing for 3 of those 5 years; in both long and short (olympic distance) races. I've been racing pro in Canada for the past 2 years.

I have recently relocated to the USA and have loads of cycling related questions!! This is one of my non-cycling questions: I am searching for a good doctor in my area. I was lucky to have found a fantastic doctor when I lived in Ottawa -- she was a triathlete so understood the competative riding life-style and the impacts it could have.

Does anyone on this forum live in the Portland area? if yes, do you have a good Doctor? How does one go about finding good doctors down here? Back home it is just word of mouth ...

I'm in Vancouver, so no idea about doctors in Portland, but I assume it's word of mouth as well. Maybe your coach/team members/fellow cyclists in Portland could help? Of course some TE women will come with recommendations I am sure.

Are you looking for allopathic (traditional western MD) or naturopathic/alternative? Also, are you looking mainly for a primary care physician who is understand, or a specific sports medicine/orthopaedist? What part of the metro area?

Many of the traditional docs I've met here are quite active; cycling, running, and triathlons seem to be a very common hobby for MDs here in Portland. My own doctor is not a cyclist herself, but she referred me to a local PT clinic in my neighborhood and I had at least one sport in common with virtually all of the therapists that worked there.

Two standout recommendations that I can make are:

A good holistic clinic for sports medicine is the Back in Motion practice. They are mainly chiropractic/naturopathic.

For women's health, Portland is home to the clinic founded and run by Dr. Tori Hudson herself, A Woman's Time.

Given the nature of our sport I will eventually have to seek out a PT ... and a masseuse (ART) ... and a chiropractor!

For now I was looking for a traditional doctor but the Womens Health site looks very interesting as well.

I've lived here for about 15 years ,and I have lots of names of Doctors. The traditional doctor I'm seeing now is in her 30s ,and is a competitive cycler. I found the Portland Clinic is a great place because they have every kind of doctor you would want to see in the same building. They have 3 in the Portland area. I also have a name of a chiropractor who is also a tri athlete . He is around the downtown area. I live in Beaverton (do you know where that is)? pm me if you need names ,and numbers.
