    Police Bikes?

Okay, so you have to prove you're a cop to get them. I'm befuddled. What do police bikes do that other bikes don't do? Have rear ends that explode on impact?

This model for Police Use only. Proof of identification and/or department affiliation is required.

    Patrol Bike

    Pursuit Bike (!!!)

These are shaft drive from the same company where we got ours. Do other companies also make police bikes?

I thought most police bikes were made by Trek.

We have bike cops here. They are kind of hot.

They have coffee and doughnut holders on them! (Sorry, I couldn't resist)

Probably because the have "Police" on them you have to have proof you are in law enforcement.

Just as not everybody can drive a car with "police" painted on the side, they probably don't want to sell a "Police" bike to just anyone - think of the anarchy that would create if anyone could impersonate an officer just by buying a bike.
I always figured they were modified after the sale, but perhaps not. It certainly allows a company to track demographics and trumpet how often their bikes are used for the civic good.....

The KHS police bike comes with red and blue lights. Not sure about all the others though.

Police bikes are new for the company I linked to. They didn't have them when we bought ours in June.

Okay, so the "police" painted on it is probably the reason why they won't sell them to just anybody. But I do like the idea of donut/coffee holders and exploding rear tires.

We have bike cops in downtown Dallas, and also mounted police. I love the mounted ones best, but the bike cops are great, too!
