Any Century Rides Left?

I haven't done a full century yet. Here in Western Pa it is 33 degrees and windy today!

Does anyone know of any supported centuries in the PA, Ohio, West Virginia, New York, or Virginia in the month of November? I have been googling and haven't come up with much. I am thinking it's too late and I need to wait until Spring.

I'm thinking you'd have to come south at this point to still be able to do a century before year's end. Our local one is next Saturday, in the bustling metropolis of Milton, Florida. Hey Cyclesome, come on down.

They pretty much run year round, here in Florida. Our two local Centuries are next weekend, and then the ride that got me hooked on road ibking is in November, the Horrible Hundred! There's one just about every weekend, though.

There's a flat one on the eastern shore of Virginia on October 29. (I'm thinking of doing it if my sick dog is doing ok or, more likely, is no more by then.)

The Virginia Eastern Shore one sounds good to me. Can you tell me more about it? There isn't much info online. I would have to drive 4+ hours to get there after working the evening before until 8pm, unless one of the nice ladies I work with switches shift times with me. (They are so cool like that) I'll need to get a room and all since I'd like to make an entire w/e getaway out of it. The Sunday kayaking sounds like a nice way to relax the day after.

Also, being a newbie (riding 2 months), please give your opinion. Yesterday I did my longest ride of 33 miles in very hilly territory on the Covered Bridge Ride in Bucks County PA. Seemed to go good. (although a little slow - 4 hrs of sleep and hills happen to be my enemy) and no ill effects today. Would it seem as though I may be able to tackle the 60 mi. metric century on this one if it's flat? I feel like I can go much, much further than I have if it's not all hills, although that doesn't mean I should.

Sorry, but I don't know any more about it. I've never done it before. Maybe this is one of those situations where we'll just have to jump in and show up and hope it exceeds our expectations!

There's another century that same weekend, the Tour de Vin associate with the Powhatan (VA) Chamber of Comerce Festival of the Grape (for whatever that's worth to you!)

I did that one last year and loved it. It was my first century, and I'd only been riding about 10 weeks. I did the full 100 miles without too much problem (well, except for the fact that my crotch got so chafed that I couldn't wear underwear for about four days afterward!). If you've done 33 miles of hilly terrain already, I think you can probably do the metric century without too much trouble. Like others have said, it's totally flat. (The only downside to no hills at all is, well, there's no "down" side. In other words, you never get to coast.) The people putting it on were very nice. The course is incredibly well-marked. I was worried about losing my way and going miles in the wrong direction but didn't have that problem at all. I stayed at the Sunset Beach Resort (www.sunsetbeachresortva.com) and thought that worked well. All the closer hotels (there aren't many) were already booked by the time I decided to do the ride, but it turned out that this one wasn't too far away.

I've decided not to do the Virginia Eastern Shore ride afterall. I figured on only doing the metric. There is another ride the same day in DE called The Great Pumpkin Ride benefiting Cerebral Palsy. http://www.krysti.org/events.htm#greatpumpkin They've got a metric and it's for a good cause so I'm going that way. I'm hitting up family and friends for quick donations. (email is wonderfully fast)
