Thanks for the welcomes, Tri Girl & Trek420. Yes, I am the poohbah of EBBC.

The owner of the "Pink Panther" piloted the "Pink Panther" on her first ascent up Mt Diablo in 1983. A group of us returned to Mt Diablo under sunny skies yesterday, albeit we rode lighter road bikes, leaving the commuter gear in the stable.

One thing I noticed after posting the image is that the latest rendition of the "Pink Panther" is with silver SKS fenders that enhance the appearance and wet-weather comfort. Let your bikes evolve!

    Thumbs up my little raleigh

Thanks for the compliments It was a fun build. I loved taking apart the bike and finding new parts for it. it looks a bit different now. I added a back rack for commuting to work, I put a different front brake on bcus the one pictured had too long of a reach.

I also have a black chain on, a cycling computer, and have changed out the cogs a couple of times. At the moment I'm running a 46:19 gear ratio.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting the machined version of these rims because it's a little scary riding in the rain, but since it's fixed I can always back pedal to stop.

The frame has been a little battered and is starting to rust a bit on the dropouts so I'm thinking of sandblasting it and getting it powder coated a kind of deep raspberry color. I'm not sure yet though because I still enjoy the Raleigh graphics. I may search for some on ebay I can use if I do get the new paint job.

When KnottedYet's thrift store road bike was powdercoated deep red the shop was able to keep the headbadge. I think that looks perfect. My LBS has a dude (I assume it's a dude, could be a gal) who reproduces decals for him. You can also buy them or even create your own.

Ah, so my sister is now a member of the Wild Mixte Club!
She dropped the bike off at the LBS this morning for a tune-up, plus new cables and tires. Sadly they didn't have any inexpensive red bar tape, so she's going with black for now. It's supposed to be ready by early next week. (Just in time for the weather to turn lousy. )

got my Mixte, named Mitzi back from the shop yesterday and rode it home. The complete makeover cost $240! (only 25 bucks for labor, seriously!!!)
It occurred to me that this bike is my very first 10 speed. I will try to take some photos tonight when i get home. It was too dark when I got home yesterday.

here she is with borrowed headlights! this bike has a B66 Brooks saddle that I have owned for 15+ years, reflective white sidewalls, new brakes, wheels, fenders. Now I can't say "i don't have a bike, my bike is in the shop" instead I'll say 33 degrees is too cold for me to ride in the mornig!

What a beautiful bike, Mimi! The spoke card adds a nice touch of class, too.
