    A giant leap for fixedgeargirl

Ohmigawd, I just did it, I just responded to my first-ever personal ad ever in my whole life ! After 8 years with the ex, I'm jumping back into the pond!

Now, this is not OT, because his craigslist ad was titled "Let's Meet on Bikes" . We've exchanged a couple of emails (this has all transpired in the last couple of hours) and he directed me to his biz web-site, which reveals a man of good taste and good humor. He's kinda cute, too .

I feel all giggly and flirtatious! I think I could get used to this!

    Be careful, be careful.......

I did this approximately 20 years ago after my divorce, and my advice is: only meet up in well-populated areas, places that you are familiar with.

You can NEVER be too careful! YOU pick the places that you want to meet, not him.

    Safety first.

    Have a great day!

owell. I guess I'll get my thrills from fiction and second hand stories. Just try to keep the rose colored glasses off as long as possible.

    Be careful.

I got my identity "borrowed" by someone I met through a "parent's dying of cancer" chat. It was ugly, ugly, ugly.

    Good luck!!!

Of course you'll be careful, but don't freak out with the paranoia. Just make sure, as others have said, to meet in a busy place and don't go anywhere remote. Chances are he's fine. Don't let the worrywarts spoil your fun!

P.S. No offense to any worrywart; I'm one myself, but fixedgeargirl was so excited, I hate to see her parade get rained on!

I didn't mean to rain on your parade! I'm sorry. (but I am a worry wart, and I had a nasty experience)

Have fun! Hey, it's a good start if he likes bikes, right? Meet him and ride somewhere safe, cuz if you're talking you won't be watching traffic...

My brother met his wife over the internet, and my neighbors met that way, too.

I really appreciate, and need, the reminders to watch my back. I am such a Sally Smalltown that I forget the Big Bad Wolf can be just a mouse click away.

I sent him a link to the one photo of me that exists on the web and he emailed back, so that's a good sign . Gack, now I'm nervous. I need to firm up plans to meet him (on bikes). All I can do is be myself, right ? (That's a rhetorical question .)

You have already had all the warnings and I am certain you are clever enough to be careful. Have a brilliant time and let us know how it goes. I recieved a wedding invitation yesterday. The happy couple met online and have been together for 2 years now and have decided to marry.

Hey wow, good for you! Isn't it exciting? Novel? Make you start actually consider what you wear and such for the first time in a while?

Anyway, all the usual safety precautions are in order, but I won't repeat those again. I'm sure you are a smart gal.

I think you did right putting out what you did - about loving biking and having a child. If someone can't deal with that, then they just aren't worth it.

I hope it goes well and you must, must absolutely keep us informed.
