I'd seen bikejournal.com mentioned in a couple of threads here and checked it out a few weeks ago. For anyone who hasn't found the site yet, it's a great way to track your progress. I had a hand-written log that I had created, but seeing my monthly and total averages at bikejournal.com is very motivating. It's also cool to check out my stats compared to other riders, and to see how Team Estrogen ranks (#6!).

Thank you to the ladies here who mentioned the site recently! It's just one more example of the cool stuff you can pick up at this forum.

yes, that tracking AND giving my miles to teamestrogen has actually gotten me on my bike more than once when i wouldn't have otherwise ridden.
and after a big ride, it's thrilling to see how much you jump ahead in the ranks!

Wow, I had started this too, I didn't know I could give my miles to anyone. How does that work? I guess I haven't played with it enough, I don't know how to do the stats thing either.
I basically just go in and log my rides so I can keep up with my miles and progress.

yeah, DDH, mess around with it a bit, it's pretty complicated.
but somewhere it has clubs and which clubs you want to give the miles to.
    then YOUR miles help TE!

    I love bikejournal too!

Has anyone signed up for the premier membership? ($20 year I think). I want to use some of the filters (ie how many miles etc on which bike) but you have to be a member. Is it worth it?

I love bikejournal.com. I have premier membership. I don't use the filters, but I figure it's worth supporting Sean in his efforts.

I log my miles with my local club, not with TE, but eventually I think they'll work it out so that you can log with two clubs.

So what do the clubs get when you give them your miles? Just prestige of having lots of miles from different members?

Does it put them on top or something so more people see them?

    I'm just curious.

Thank you for the reminder. I keep forgetting to add my miles.

I also sent $20 for the effort involved. Premier members can put "view my journal" on their profiles (mine's been viewed 40 times... probably 20 of them m3 :-)) and I get to see that I'm ranked the #1 female in Illinois for mileage (tho' that might be temporary, since another rider has been "on a biking tour" for over a week and might just put in 1000 miles when she returns).
No prizes ('cept that monthly giveaway), it's all "honor system," and I had to discipline myself to stick to progress towards my goal instead of moving ahead in the ranking, which could become a misplaced priority...
and yea, add those miles Gotta get to that goal! about 75,000 miles to go...

I have been on bikejournal.com since I started, but didn't have a club. I am happy to say that have now named Team Estrogen as my club affiliate - I was #200. WOO HOO!!

The BikeJournal is a great place to keep track of mileage, speed, elevation gain (if you climb at all on your rides) PLUS it's a great place to find other riders in your area. I've ridden with about 10+ people that I've met on the Bike Journal and all of them have been wonderful to meet.

Yesterday when I was out on a ride with two other women, we stopped at a large office building in Fremont, CA so I could make a phone call to my partner Dave (he works just a few blocks away, and I thought we might stop by). Anyway one of the other riders had on a Bike Journal jersey. A fellow who was standing on the sidewalk in the lot where we were noticed her jersey. Turns out, he's a member too! Here out of nowhere in the most unexpected place! That was very neat.

When I was on the Marin Century this past weekend (Veronica's big win for her triple crown award), I saw a guy in a Bike Journal jersey. Turns out he's someone from my area who I knew about but had never met.

Amazing what a jersey sighting will do! I figure one of these days the Amici Veloci jersey will have similar experiences.

Any idea why my mileage refuses to change from 88? It has been driving me nuts.
