    Training Question

    To disable ads, please log-in.

HELP!! I'm a new rider and have been trying to train for an 84 mile charity event that is in 2 more weeks. My longest ride so far has been 57 miles and that was a while ago. Now I'm not sure what to do. I'm going out for 55-60 mile ride this weekend then I'll do my regular 20 mile training rides during the week. The follwoing week is the week before the charity ride. Should I go out and do another long ride of 70 or more miles or just go for 50-60?

If I was able to stick to the training plan (which was totally put off because of the weather around here) I would have already ridden an 85 mile ride and would be scaling back now.

What to do?? What to do??

Talking Can't make up what you haven't done in 2 week

By all means go out and ride a fairly long ride this weekend and the week before your long charity ride go ahead and do your 20 milers on the weekdays.

I would recommend you don't burn yourself out just before hte ride - so go easy hte week before on those 20 milers especially towards the end of hte week and take of the day before or maybe even both thursday and friday so you are fresh for your ride on saturday, if it is on sat?

Have fun - go a little slower - you will be fine When you are training say for a 100 miler, you don't ever have to ride the actual 100 miles before same with your shorter ride. You will be fine
