    Almost back from RMNP

We are almost home (last night on the road) from a week camping at Rocky Mountain National Park -- our idea of heaven on earth!

FYI -- we were driving up Old Fall River Road, the dirt/gravel road that was replaced in 1932, to the Alpine Visitor Center which is up in the tundra. (GRADE: The road climbed to Fall River Pass on steep grades sometimes reaching 16%. Some early automobiles had to climb in reverse due to their weak engines and gravity-fed fuel system.)

So here we are stopped to walk down to a waterfall and what should pass by but --

Whoa. Old Fall River Road starts around 9,000 ft and the highest point is 12,183!

Oh, and at a later stop we saw:

So, how does this compare to the Tour de France?

Of course we did see cyclists all over the park, and all over Colorado, for that matter!

Can't wait to be home with time to catch up on posts here at TE!

It sounds like you are having a wonderful time. I could not access the photos. I look forward to seeing them and hearing more about your trip when you are back. Safe Travels.

Pooks! No wonder I've been missing you! You've been enjoying lovely mountain scenery!

Drive this last leg safely, so you can be back on your bike, and writing more great posts!
