    In city ride facing forward!

I live in Atlanta and was stopped at the traffic light at 10th and Peachtree. This is a very very busy intersection. I notice a guy all decked out in riding gear riding across the street. There was construction at the corner which took up a good bit of sidewalk. As he zoomed up to the sidewalk he turned to look back at something or someone. As he turned back straight he did a face plant against one of those big (about 5 ft tall) grey electrical boxes that hold the wires for the signal. A lady crossing the street was trying to help him up. His bike looked damaged. The light went completely out and everyone at the intersecton was stunned! Note to self: Always face forward while riding in the city!

Oh, for a minute there I thought you were advocating riding against the flow of traffic, which is a big no-no!

I see you're just mentioning the supreme importance of looking where you're going. Yeah, I definitely recommend following this best practice.
