I have set a goal for my running

    To disable ads, please log-in.

My goal is to be able to run a 5K by 9-17-06, so I can complete a sprint triathlon then.

I sent my running coach an e-mail and told him that no matter what we have to do, I will run a 5K by then. I am willing to put in the time and energy to reach that goal.

I simply REFUSE to let a whole season go by only completing one triathlon. I have been losing my motivation and getting all antsy because I can't put races on my calendar.

Plus, I think this will get him to really push me to get my form together so I can start running more.

At least I have something to look forward to now! YES!

Good for you. That sounds like a really reasonable goal. Looking forward to hearing how it goes. L.

Great goal -- it sounds totally doable! I wonder what your running coach will say next time Hopefully he'll be supportive and get you on track (no pun intended, I swear).

I was thinking about you on saturday. I saw this woman while I was out running. Her running form sounded exactly like what you describe with your feet and your knees. I couldn't help but think she was going to have some pain in her future. Of coure, even with her form, she was way faster than me.

Your plan sounds like a good one. I can't wait to read your race report.

Thanks for all the positive words of encouragement.

I think with setting a goal he and I will work hard to reach it. I gave him 2 months without any expectations, but we need to get on the ball and really move forward now. Crazy-leg-with horrible knee- and all!

Chick- that is awesome you can run 30 minutes pain free! WAY TO GO!

Brina- You got me thinking. Maybe I should start filming my workouts. I think I could post my running form on up UTube, or something. Now, I just have to find all the connections my camera uses to upload a film to my computer. It's been YEARS since I have seen that stuff. It would be cool to see my progress though.

YES! This is what my running coach responded with via e-mail to my goal:

    GOAL 9-17-06

Karen, great idea, not only do I believe this goal is tangable but I
believe we can set some kind of performance goal as well! I have been very
pleased with your progress, diligence and efforts! What I need from you is the times of your past 5K runs. When you come in tomorrow I will have a realistic running program for you as your home assignment.
Then when I responded telling him that a 5K at a 10 minute mile would be fine for me, he replied back with:

30 MINUTES IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, WE WILL GET YOU BELOW 30 MINUTES AND BEYOND. THAT IS MY PROMISE! SEE YOU TOMORROW.

    FILMING:

OK, I got my camera all ready and I even have some blank tapes... but in order to load what I have filmed to the internet, I need to have a floppy disk drive on my computer. Which I don't.

I think I might try to load it up through my boyfriends computer? Or my laptop from work.

I left the camera at home. Now I'm wishing I hadn't. Oh well, I think I will start filming next week. At the very least, I can watch my progression over the next few months.

But I will try to load some of the film up in the future for you ladies to see. Trying to type it out isn't the same.
