    What do you wear?

Do you wear different clothes depending on which bike you're riding? Road vs. hybrid vs. MTB? Do you wear road shorts on all your bikes? Mountain shorts on all your bikes? Different jerseys, etc?

I wear the same lycra shorts on road and MTB. MTB baggy shorts get stuck on the seat nose, and I just prefer lycra now.

I wear the same top on both. Right now I am only wearing tanks, because that means no sports bra, and I have a really good sunscreen.

I wear sandals on the road bike, and haven't worn them on the MTB. I wore my nice Sidi MTB shoes, that I always wore on the road bike, on my MTB once, and felt guilty because they got a little dirty. So now I wear the Shimano MTB shoes that will last till eternity.

I like a Camelback on MTB, because a bottle gets filthy, and it's easier to drink while riding. I like just bottles on the road bike, because my back doesn't roast- but I will carry a Camelback if doing a really long ride in really hot weather- where I am more worried about running out of water than keeping my back cool.

I wear the same gloves, but like glasses with yellow lenses on the trail.

Same helmet. Although I hate it when tree branches scrape it...I'd better get over that.

Each bike has its own under-seat bag with tools, etc.

Yep same clothing for each bike except for shoes. I didnt want to get my pretty blue road shoes all dirty so I have black ones for mountain biking. I take a Camelback when Im on my mountain bike and carry all my gear in that.

when I am just going to work my commute is 4 miles downhill, I wear my work clothes.
I pack bike shorts for the ride home (uphill!) and usually wear a teeshirt
    or maybe a raincoat too.

For longer rides, I wear all bike clothes because it's easier than hassling with my husband who has a thread on bikejournal about how many bike jerseys he has!

    Alert Shirts

I almost always wear an Alert Shirt, sometimes a regular jersey, but I am convinced the Alert Shirt has saved my life on at least one occasion. I've got sleeveless, short sleeved and long sleeved versions.
Regular shorts for me, no padding - due to that bent thing I've got going.

I only have one bike. I wear anything and everything. I have rainpants to wear over my work clothes, but prefer to just wear my Ibex knickers in the rain if I'm not commuting.

no mtn bike, but I have different gloves for my road bike with campy hoods and for my fixie with shimano hoods. shimano hoods are thinner, which eats into my hand faster, thus needing more padding. the extra padding on the plush campy hoods causes aches and pains from my hands having to grip more than they're comfortable gripping.

Caligurl, why am I not surprised?

I prefer a looser top on mtb. More subdued colors. When I ride on the road I prefer RED and YELLOW jerseys as in "please don't run me over you yahoo bro'!!!"

I have a grey and blue jersey to match my grey with blue relief GIANT race bike, black shorts and black/grey gloves...

I have a red jersey for my red SCORPIO when I race on it...

All my shorts are black to ensure they go with anything...

My other jerseys tend to be low key in colours... and def no orange

*BikeLady bows her head in shame...*

I have three bikes. I have three (color-coordinated) helmets. I have three pairs of shoes (partly because I use different pedal systems on each of the bikes). I have three pairs of glasses with multiple lenses.

I also have 45 jerseys with coordinated sports bras and matching/coordinating socks.

    Clothing

    Songlady,

I'm basically with Nanci on this one - by the way - Nance - love your new photo!

MTB - cycling skort or lycra shorts, camel back and yellow lenses, spd cleats with specialized shoes.

ROAD - lycra cycling shorts, no camel back and gray/glue lenses, SIDI shoes with spd-SL cleats.

I like to wear my older tops and jackets on the MTB, as they get a little dirtier, as do your shoes. Plus - when I am mountain biking there are more often other activities involved and the skort is a little easier on the eyes when you are walking around and hanging out with others. Unlike baggy shorts, I do not get the skort caught on the seat.

I also need to rant here for us tall ladies - womens jerseys are cute - but too darn short - yeah - I have a belly ring - but showing it while cycling is not high on my priority list. So I tend to wear men's jerseys for the length.

How about wearing an Genesee Beer tank top?? (I see you are in Rochester - I grew up in Painted Post and spent summers on Keuka Lake)

I wonder if they exist? My father would love a Genny Beer jersey for father's day!!

My main dilemma with clothing is whether or not to wear lycra on my hybrid. I find, like Nanci, that the loose part of my mtb shorts gets caught on the saddle, or rides up into oblivion. For some reason, I have this idea that my lycra should stay with my road bike. Guess I need to just get over it!

depends on the purpose of the ride. I have a road and a hybrid. I have to wear different shoes as I have road pedals on the road bike and campus pedals (spd on one side and flat on the other) on my hybrid. If I am riding my hybrid for a workout (with daughter in the burley) than I wear exactly what I would wear for a work out on my road bike - lycra shorts, tank jersey - I do have different gloves with padding in different spots. If I am on my hybrid riding with my sons I don't wear cycling shoes or cycling clothes. The rides are usually long enough to need padded shorts and we usually stop at a playground to run around for a while.

I used to be very picky about what I wore on either road or MTB rides but now... not so much. I've noticed alot more people wearing road kits on MTB rides so I've started wearing some of my road jerseys as well.

I don't always wear MTB shorts on MTB rides - usually just when I will be doing a harder, gnarlier ride. MTB will protect me better if I have a fall and of course if riding in tall brush and thistles (which we have alot of in CA) will protect my legs. I generally like MTB jerseys on MTB rides 'cause they are looser, more comfortable and can be cooler.

I don't think there really any rules anymore although most MTB riders wear looser clothing in more sedate colors (like brown, greens, beige and white) and roadies wear all the tight, bright lycra.

I do have different gloves for road and MTB - MTB gloves are Fox's Mojaves which provide more coverage and padding. And shoes - Sidi's for both but Genius 5 for road and Dominators (great name) for MTB (my road pedals are Dura Ace and MTB Time ATAC ZControl). And I am too cheap to have a road and MTB helment as some of my friends. I wear Giro's Havoc for both.
