Thanks for all the imput. I did not do the 50 mile ride. Instead stuck with the 25 mile ride. The ride went well and I ate a small amount of bananas frequently and stayed hydrated. I have been biking at least 4 days a week 10-20 miles each since march ( when my weight was finally down so I could bike). I also do about 1 hour cardio (run on treadmill) 4 days a week and weight train 2 x week. I try to get carb drinks in prior to a workout. The yogurt smoothies seem to work.
But you are right, I need to work up to 50 miles to be on the safe side.
    thanks for all the help

Great news! Thanks for the update. You can do a 50-miler as a later goal. Sounds like you have a good routine going.

I didn't do my 50-miler either, but it was due to car-sharing issues. Usually being a one-car family is not a problem, but it was yesterday and I pouted all day about it (and was sorely tempted to go buy a second car!). I should have rented a car for the weekend, but work was so busy that I didn't have a chance to think it through. Oh well.

    congratulations again!

    Lady -

You rock! And your workout plans sounds excellent (although I would add another day of weight training - build muscle to rev up your metabolism, keep your bones strong).

25 miles is a very respectable distance! Big congrats!
