    Video editing help

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Does anyone have video editing software which could be used to capture a still image from an AVI file? I've got a couple more for the "Still Life" series but Bubba accidentally had the camera set to video and I can't create one frame from the clip.

Is anyone willing to help out if I send them the files? There are 3 files between 487 to 647 KB each so emailing shouldn't be a problem.

I'd appreciate any help with continuing my series. This may become a summer long project. Maybe a calendar for the family at Christmas.

    SadieKate,

Capturing stills from an AVI is pretty easy. Actually, if you have Windows XP with Movie Maker, you could use that software.
I'd be happy to do it for you, if you let me know which scenes you want as stills. Just a point - those AVI file sizes seem rather on the small side, I'm assuming they're very short?
I've sent you a PM with my email if you'd like some help.

OMG, I do have Movie Maker on this computer! Geez, what a doofus. I'll see if I can remember how to use it. It's been a loooong time.

One file is turned sideways and I don't think Movie Maker will rotate it without it looking odd since pixels are square. Of course, this could only to apply to an older version of Movie Maker I had long ago. Anyone know?

    Thanks, SnappyPix.

I may still need help with that rotation thing.

    SK,

MovieMaker can rotate stills - it can actually do quite a lot of stuff, including effects. If you have the older version of MM (version 1, I think), you can easily update to version 2 for free via Microsoft's site.

BTW, If you need any help, just give me a nudge.
Off to work now though, but would be happy to help when I get back, if you need it.

Thanks to Miss Yellow and SnappyPix, we managed to pull the stills from the video. Sorry the quality isn't better. Everybody needs a summer project.
