... I have ordered the bicycle powered blender to go on my Xtracycle from (of course) http://www.bikeblender.com (this isn't me or it; it's on the way from California, so CA ladies wave as it goes by!) Smoothie recipes, anyone? Margaritas?![]()

Hey, if you're not having fun, you're not doing it right--and it looks like this is definitely a fun biking accessory!
That's crazy, I've never seen that before. Let us know how well it works!!
What a fun idea Sue! That inspired me to do a little web search on bicycle-powered options. It seems like a great idea to harness the energy created. I saw info on powering Ipods and cell phones. It would be nice to at least pedal-recharge my light batteries.

The students at the university where I work have a Campus Center for Appropriate technology with some GREAT examples set up at their house of pedal power; this is from their website: http://www.humboldt.edu/~ccat/pedalpower/inventions/frames_final_htm..htm
You can even see our college president working the cycle generators during an event!
There's a sewing machine, grinder, drill press, tv/vcr and wringer washer. I personally like the "Concert Generator." Bart, with the Solar cooker, sets up at the food coop pretty regularly--and it seems to work great.

You know, I still sew on a 1902 treadle sewing machine. I even used to sew for a living on that thing.
My mid-life crisis buy was my bike - and a new sleeping bag, and a new tent... We joke about our bikes being our RV(s).
I'll let you, Geonz, handle the Margaritas.![]()
Give big space to the festive dog that make sport in the roadway. Avoid entanglement with your wheel spoke.

You know, those old machines are still the best, aren't they? At least in my opinion. Especially when they are all metal; you can sew just about anything on those things, and nothing breaks!

I'm tracking its progress from the UPS site... it left San Pablo at 3:11 a.m. on 4/08... due to arrive THursday. (I'm also getting a new wheel and disk brake on the Xtracycle so it can carry what it's supposed to carry if I see, say, a bookcase at a yard sale...)
