Question Fly By Night Du in Watkins Glen

I'm wondering if anyone has done this duathlon before. I was checking the site and it looks like a fun one, something that I think would be a good first race of the season. I just wanted to know if anyone had a personal experiences there or anything like that. I want to pick a fun race that I can enjoy and learn a lot from to start off. I'm sort of out of the loop because I spent all last season touring. (and the season prior was my first season on a road bike, so I only did a few training races.) I run a lot and have run a few road races. It would be my frist du ever, but I spent some time last year in training doing the run bike run bike run format, so I'm somewhat used to the transition. Any help is appreciated! thanks!

    du at the Glen

I did that duathlon last year. It's a great course especially for an aggressive road racer. There are some steep short hills you need your small chain ring for. The run course is totally flat and some pavement, and some stone. It's easy to NOT draft and ride around slower riders because of the width of the race track. I would recommend cycling the track at least 2 times before you race it to get a good feeling and warm-up. It definitely helped me.
