Not sure it makes any difference, but I remember riding quite hard to one blood test which was supposed to be non-fasting, and then measuring blood glucose which was down at a fasting level. Just burned it all right off I guess.

I have to have some blood work done, a liver function test (because of the tamoxifen) and a thyroid test. Both are non fasting. The lab is on the way to work. Will riding there throw anything off?

You should be fine to ride before those two tests. It's not a 100 miles to work, is it? You'll be fine.
Lookit, grasshopper....
I'm actually wondering the same thing. I know not to get blood tests done right after a marathon, but what about a really tough half?

Don't know anything about the science, but sending good wishes for passing your blood tests with flying (riding?) colors.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
My unscientific guess is ride but ride easy. If it was important not to exercise right before they would have told you so.

Yay! I'm hypothyroid! I was hoping! I got an rx for Synthroid.
When I told my oncologist my hair has been thin and brittle, she thought it might be my thyroid. I've been really tired and low energy for a long time, too. I'm so relieved there's a reason other than tamoxifen side effects. Hoping this makes me feel better.
No results yet on the liver function test.
And I did ride there.

Welcome to the Synthroid club. I've been on it for about a month. I've yet to have new labs done to see if it's helping. I feel better, but my hair is still uncooperative.

The hair issue is the pits, so I hope yours responds, Indy. Mine still could be the tamoxifen, but I have hope.

I hav stubborn hair anyway, so the fact that it's grown limp and lifeless is par for the course. At least I don't feel like crying all the time anymore!
I hope you feel better soon, Red. There are some past threads about how and when to dose. I take mine in the middle of the night. I have to get up to pee anyway, so I kill two birds. Be sure to take it with a full glass of water.

This doesn't mention exercise, but interesting info about timing of and fasting for thyroid blood tests:

Took me until today to get up the guts to go in - I have meltdowns around needles. Guess I'll hear if it's iron, thyroid, or other soon enough.

Interesting. I almost always get my blood drawn in the morning and since I'm not a breakfast eater on work days (I know, but I have zero appetite until 9 or 10). I'm not on a T3 drug, so I don't think I'll skip the day's meds either.
@Jess. Sorry you're not feeling well. Let us know what the tests reveal.

Thanks. I'm probably overreacting to what is likely job-related burnout but I've been totally wiped for months. My mom has thyroid problems so we figured it was time to check everything out. If nothing else, I now will have baseline comparison numbers for the future.

I took my first pill three nights ago (like Indy, the middle of the night works best for me) and I swear I felt better that day. I was walking to the store, and it dawned on me that a weight had been lifted. I know this is impossible, but I think my hair seems a little better. It feels soft. That could just be wishful thinking, but my boyfriend even thought so.
I wonder how long I've had this. I never had the weight gain that usually is the main symptom, but I've always been cold and tired. At least since high school. Maybe it was a little low all along, then the BC treatments affected it? But so far, so good. I felt really strong on my commute yesterday, too.
Good luck, Jess. The test didn't hurt at all. I hope you get clear answers.
