Santa came early: Louis Garneau Sonix 6.4 frame!!

Friday just as I was about to drive away to mail my Trek Pilot 5.0 to Seattle for my cross country bike ride, the UPS man drove up, pulled a giant Specialized box out of the truck and said to me "Oooo, this feels like a good one!" No it was not a specialized frame, or a complete bike, but he was right. It's a good one.

My uncle, a former Cat 2 racer (when he was late 30's to 40 yeesh!) recently got himself a new Trek Madone 6 point something or rather and no longer needed his Louis Garneau. Indeed, he figured he'd never be able to sell a carbon frame for anywhere near what he paid for it, never had crashed on it, and decided to gift it to his niece who is the same height as him.

Naturally I made a big mess opening it up. More packaging than Christmas!

The frame is in great shape. Also looks like everyone at road bike review loved LOVED LOVED their sonix 6.4 (the predecessor to the current Gennix R1 I think?).

Praise Canada for producing such an exquisite frame! It would be nitpicky to complain about the red, but I do wish there was more opportunity for fun colored bar tape and such.

Now I just need to find the money to build it up properly!!

Or you could just sit next to it on the couch and whisper sweet nothings into its steerer tube.

Beautiful frame. Yay for your uncle!

Nope it was Mike (also a speedskater). He's the brother who restored the farmhouse that the gallery lives in now.

A thought: no idea what kind of bike you ride now, but if you like this one better than your current, you could transfer all the components to the LG frame. Might have to buy a few new things. But much cheaper.

Unless you are happy with your current setup, then I wouldn't touch it.
Well, I think I want to keep my Pilot as-is for commuting and long rides. This one was born to race. I'm not sure what I'll put on it yet... depends on what I find and what my budget turns out to be.

    Love that!

Beautiful frame - congrats! What components do you want to put on it?

I'm not sure yet, but probably full ultegra. I think my lust over the Ultegra Di2 is just a little over the top-- and still out of my price range. I have Ultegra and 105 on my current bike and it's been pretty fantastic for me over the last five years.
