I was delighted to see a cycling class for adults today. The class was on an unused pier, which is a nice, pedestrian- and traffic-free space (rare in NYC).
I was photographing a barn swallow (they nest under the pier) and thought I would not be in their way. However, the instructor came over and very politely asked me to leave.
I told him I was glad to clear out for such a worthwhile endeavor, and wished him good luck with the class. There were about 18-20 students, mostly women.
I didn't want to make the students self-conscious by photographing them, so I photographed the sign.![]()
