    New Crank success!

I posted recently about my issues with toe overlap while waiting for my new crank to come in.

After a painful waiting period, I got my bike back with my shiny new 165 crankset. I upgraded to a Shimano 105. A decent upgrade from my FSA Gossamer MegaExo that came on the bike.

I never knew it would make such a difference, or, actually, that I would be able to notice the difference. It's much smoother, and I had zero, not one iota of knee discomfort. And, it's way easier for me to have a higher cadence, and the deadspot at the top of the stroke is less too.

My short little legs are happy! And my expensive mistake ended up being a plus.

Just had to share with people who will appreciate it.

Yay! I apparently have a 170 and it's really good. I'd be intrigued to try a 165, sometime, as I have squatty little legs.

I took a leap of faith in getting a smaller size, and I am pleasantly pleased. Obviously.

I see you're "tackling Tahoe" One of these years I want to do that with Team and Training. Hills scare me. I live in a very flat area.

It's reasonably flat where I am, too. The hills aren't what scare me so much as the elevation. I'm not sure what my asthmatic lungs are going to think about that. Last year I rode in Death Valley...the heat was intense, but my lungs felt great below sea level!

Wow! Glad you got that taken care of
I thought it was called Dead spot? Whichever it is, my pedal stroke is a lot smoother!

I didn't even think of the altitude issue! I did my first century with TNT and it's 99.9% flat and the coach told me the Tahoe ride isn't any harder. I find that hard to believe. A 8 mile climb? hmmmm.

    Good luck!

Yeah, we live at 350 ft. above sea level, I believe. That thinner air could make for a long day!
