Georgena's name comes up occasionally on this forum, so I thought some of you might enjoy this really cool video that was done about her.

    Geez, don't DO that!!
Whenever an email gets sent around a work with a person's name as the subject line, it usually means they died! This kinda freaked me out.
    Okay.
    Steel myself. Will watch vid.

I thought the same, 7rider! Have gotten too many sad and/or shocking emails of the type you mention. I have learned to always add to the subject line something like "Georgena Terry video" rather than ever putting just a person's name in as the subject.

    +1!!!
I watched the great video once my heart started beating again. Thanks for posting the link, Sylvia. Georgena is my hero. Both my mother and I ride Terrys. Mine is a vintage frame with updated components. Mom's semi-custom bike was built for her last spring. Neither of us had ever been comfortable on road bikes until we found Terrys. So glad that Georgena persevered. It's always fun to learn a little more about her story.

Looks like I can't change the original post title or delete it and repost with a new title, but Georgena is quite alive and well.

I think she is just a really cool person and it comes across in this video.

Thanks for the posting. She has surely played a major part in the bicycle manufacturers in considering our geometries. What an example! I see in the video that she is walking with some impairment - what does she have? I suppose this is why she does not have almost a full extension on her pedal stroke. After watching this, all I know is that I cannot measure up to her!

She had polio when she was about 2 years old which affects her left leg, so the vast majority of her power ( I think she told me 80 or 90%) comes from her right leg. She just finished 2011 with 6,000 miles on her bike which just impresses the heck out me.

Thanks for the reply, Sylvia. Georgena is a pioneer, amongst the others in her time. I am of the generation that was born as these women were breaking the barriers. What a great time that was. Sadly, us Gen X'ers are the first to receive the benefits of the labours of these women but do not always give pause to what we have been given by these very gutsy and envisioned women. I was moved and enlightened by her video; it has just been one of those days that I have given pause to many things in my life...

I clicked on that too, hoping to not find out that something bad had happened , but getting ready to brace myself for the worst. That's how the media has changed us in this country.
