    Rats!

Time to get the bike ready for the indoor trainer. Removed tire and wheel and disengaged from the derauiller. Easy peasy.

Remove tire and tube from wheel, ok going so far.

Replace with much skinnier tube and special tire for the trainer, eh, not so good. Get 3/4 of it on with no problem. Time to stop and fix dinner. Clean up, well fed and ready to tackle that last bit.

Rats! Pinched the tube - flat. Fail. Bummer, I've done this before with success. Oh well.

Trip to the LBS tomorrow for me...

It's easy to pinch a tube with skinny tires. Don't think of it as a fail, think of it as a learning experience. And buy a few extra tubes tomorrow.

Yes, I'm seeing that about skinny tires. Boo on them. I recall it was hard to get off and the regular tire went back on pretty decent. I changed a couple of flats this summer on my mountain bike with wider tires. What a breeze.

I love it that you refer to changing tires on any bike as 'what a breeze'. Nothing like a really difficult tire change to make you appreciate just how easy it actually is on other bikes.

Me, too. We had a rat infestation a few months ago and it's finally over with (don't ask). But I thought this would be about rats as opposed to using the word as an interjection.

Anyway, you'll figure the tube and tyre/tire thing out. Plus, those trainer tires are VERY difficult to work on and off. Practice is the key.
