Absolutely quiet here in Seattle.
Good luck to the east coast in riding out Irene, but she is only a Cat 1 hurricane. Riden those out myself.
And the day after a hurricane is usually a beautiful day. Not a cloud in the sky.

Not to make light of what is going on with Irene but here in Portland area, I was woken up to NOAA emergency broadcast.
It happened this morning at 3:30AM or there abouts. Not so sure because I was woken from dead sleep. A severe storm warning was issued first for Salem area, 50 miles south of Portland, with 60MPH wind, severe lightening storm, and possible severe hail storm. 30 minutes or so later, new warning was issued saying it was Newberg/Aurora area bit closer to Portland with same dire weather. Then again around 4:30AM with affected area was Portland Or. and Vancouver Wa. I could see from my bedroom window of the spectacular lightening storm. These lightening were big fat and super bright. My partner thought she heard that it also included funnel cloud sighting but I don't remember.
I did go outside and checked to make sure nothing would "fly" away. Came back in, made sure all windows were closed, unplugged all sensitive electronics including our VoIP phones and went back to sleep. I was just too tired.
I didn't hear anything this morning or all of today about the severe weather warning. Did anyone else hear about it? or know of any damage it caused? I know I wasn't dreaming because the NOAA warning(alarm) on my radio was very distinct and you can't miss it for anything else. It woke me up!!
Isn't a warning the highest level?
Just went on NOAA site. GEEZ all of the east coast are lit up with warnings. Be safe and stay put.
