with my new Gunnar, that is

My odometer just rolled over 110 miles on it, which has been something of a challenge in the last two weeks considering the weather! I did ride my other two bikes once each in the same period, so my actual mileage was higher but the point was to get enough miles on Plum Blossom so that she is ready for our fitting appointment next week. I don't expect much will need to be down outside of a few tweaks.

My fitter asked me today how the ride differs from the LHT. Much smoother ride, and the LHT is cushy, don't get me wrong! Shifting is much easier - I think the full mountain drivetrain provides gear ratios that aren't so wide (perhaps). All I know is that it is much easier to find my climbing gears that don't overly stress my quads OR drop my speed too much and the X0 grips just rock!. Gunnar is full SRAM mountain drivetrain, LHT is a combination of Shimano road crank and mountain. Both have an 11-34 cassette.

The mixed blessing is that when you compare the same route between the two bikes, I burn noticeably fewer calories on the Gunnar and my heart rate is lower. I do use the same HRM on both. I pay more attention to my HR than calories (I assume the HRM is 15-20% high on calorie estimation) but this is still an informative observation.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE my X0 grip shifters?

Next weekend will get the Jamis out on some gravel roads, which will be awesome!

    Go you!!!

I havnt logged 100 miles in the week, or month this season, so your doing LOTS better then I. Rain and work have kept me off e bike, but this morning it was sunny, but I was just in a funk. Decided to get caught up on some yard work instead. Tomorrow isn't supposed to be a total washout so hopefully I'll feel better and we can get out!
