We got 12 inches in Oklahoma City. We're not equipped to handle this. It was madness yesterday. Today it's sunny (although still only 8 degrees).

Only 14"?!?!?!? Peanuts. 18 for us so they say. I have a nice 3' drift off my patio door and that isn't the normal wind path; the neighbor's patio was in a wind channel and had a drift 3/4 of the way up the door.

It was blowing and cold to shovel, but at least it wasn't a heavy snow this far north (sorry Tri Girl--bet yours was wetter stuff). And the blowing compacted it so I could cut out 2' cubes and carry it. Blah.....my shoulders ache. I'm so sorry Coach Troy--I'll never complain about doing intervals again--much rather be doing them than shovelling snow!

Great photos, both of you. I'm glad the two dogs are enjoying the snow.

Did the dog get to go in the hot tub?

We got 22 inches so the weather people say. It took us a few hours to dig the cars out. I'm very tired now and I KNOW I will be sore tomorrow. All of our neighbors came together and helped each other dig out. It was nice to see.

Nancy I have to ask - what is that smaller dog in the top picture (with the yellow lab)? He looks like he is wearing a wig! They're both darling.

Saw footage on the Weather Channel tonight about how badly Chicago got hit. I thought we had it bad until I saw that. All the abandoned cars on the highway and the wind.

surgtech1956, love the shot of the birds.

Yeah, some of those people were stuck for 12-15 hours before they abandoned their cars (had to when they ran out of gas). The city had tow trucks out today to move them so the roads could get plowed, but when the owners came back looking for their cars, nobody could tell them where their cars were!

Tomorrow will be the 3rd day that I'm working from home. Thank goodness I am able to do that.

Crazyness where this storm hit. My parents are in Ohio and where they are didn't get hit too bad. They had a bit of snow and some freezing rain, but it never got as cold as everyone was expecting and today it warmed up to 34 to help clear the roads.

I'm on the NC coast and it was in the low 70s here today with rain in the morning and then some wind the rest of the day. It will be back in the 40's tomorrow and for the rest of the week.

Years ago I was staying downtown Chicago, in a business apartment. It's right by the John Hancock building. My last night in the city and there was a huge blizzard. I had been sight-seeing all weekend and hadn't watched the weather--I had no idea. Anyways, the city literally shut-down. It was really strange to see Michigan Ave abandoned. There is no where to put all that snow. It has to be moved out with front-loaders.

Fortunately, Cheesecake Factory was open. There was only one person working wait staff and a handful in the kitchen. I was the ONLY customer in the restaurant. That is until . . . Jerry Springer came in! So weird.

    Here's some blizzard fun pictures:

These are some pics I took yesterday morning. Snow totals varied around Chicagoland, depending on where you live. I think we were right around the 20" mark. But the way our house is situated, we take the brunt of the blowing and drifting. Our entire 80-foot driveway, from the street to the garage, was under 3 -4 feet of snow. We literally had to shovel our way out of the house...we could only open our door wide enough to squeeze through and immediately stepped out into waist-deep snow on our doorstep. It was crazy!

Ok...apparently, I don't know how to insert pictures properly.
