    Sunday rides???

I know some of you must have gotten out today. It's pretty gorgeous here, almost above freezing, and the roads were clear (with 3 ft tall snow banks on the sides). I did my regular easy 18 mile route. Saw only one other guy on a bike. Yesterday, I saw 2 little kids riding bmx bikes, pulling one of those disc sleds behind their bikes. I guess they were riding to go sledding. So cute!

I love this time of year!

-23℃ here today. My bike is staying on the trainer for a little while longer. Unfortunately it's been idle for the past week, since I'm recovering from a hamstring pull, digging DH's car out of ice.

If the hammy is still bothering this week, I'm going to try to go to the pool to at least get some cardio work in.

I seriously thought about getting a ride in this morning, but when I went outside to check the conditions...it was a tad bit too slick out for riding. There were some light flurries and the streets were slippery in some spots. So I opted to go for an hour-long, 4 mile walk instead. We are supposed to be getting a ton of snow on Tues/Wed, so it doesn't look like I'll be out riding anytime soon.

I am preparing to go on a hike with a friend and her dog, but even though my hip is troubling me today I HAD to get on the bike. I only rode around the apartment complex and really wasn't dressed for it - but it's been a month... I was pleased to note that I haven't forgotten how to ride AND my hip pain went away as soon as I started pedaling

I may have ridden as far as a mile...and if it had not become VERY apparent that the shoes I use for my BMX pedals are far too ventilated for riding in 34Fdegree temperatures I would cancel the hike with my friend and go riding instead. We are supposed to get a ton of ice, or snow, on Tue/Wed so it looks like it will be longer before I get to ride again. Spring IS coming though

    Thumbs down

It's mid-high 30's here and sunny. I wish I were able to get out on the bike but I'm just too busy with other things this time and I'm giving my knee another week or so break. The temperatures will be dropping here again tomorrow unfortunately.

Hope others are having nice rides today though!

Happy to have done a good, quick snow shoe, going up a 20+% grade hill in the Stow Town Forest. Although the total was only 2 miles, it was a good work out.
Frankly, I am happy to take a break from riding. My bike is on the trainer and I diligently do my winter training program 2-3X a week. It's not that I don't ever ride outside in the winter, but with no snow tires, there's no way I would have gone out today, even though the temperature is OK. The roads are full of crap and you can't see around the corners because of the snow banks, even in DH's high up suv. I am happily enjoying being excited about the winter sports I do, because in about 6 weeks, the season will start.

Okay so yesterday, 62 degrees and no wind. Awesome two hour ride, nippy enough for my leg warmers. Yeah, I live in Miami, for me it was chilly.

Yesssssssssssss! Finally, an absolutely stunning day here in NC. Sunshine, high in the 60s! Took off in tights, but they came off after 20 minutes. A bit breezy, but it was from the south, which kept it nice and warm. So much fun. Didn't expect to get more than 15 miles in but was having so much fun, I ended up with 20.5. I don't have a trainer any more, so this was only my third ride outside in 2011, and the first one without a jacket and tights! Woot!

Sorry for all you gals who are suffering in the snow/ice and icky roads. We had our share in Dec. and earlier in Jan., and we still have more cold weather coming, but this weekend was a pleasant reprieve!

I've been grading science fair projects all day but brought the bike down to my school with me. I took a break and rode 17.5 miles. A bit windy, but not too bad. Now to get finished with the last 20 projects and get out of here!

Nothing for me--it's 27F and I've been laid up on the couch/curled up in the computer chair for most of this weekend. Waiting until March...

It was/is in the 50's here, but instead of riding our bikes we choose to go drive through a neighborhood we're really considering purchasing a home in and to drive by the homes we've pulled on up on line to make sure we really want to see each of them before I talk with our Realtor this week.

I nearly did, but after walking out to buy a paper with small girl (which took an hour as we came back via two parks and the frozen canal) I just didn't fancy going back out in the cold again. Your ride sounds lovely, RedRhodie.

Why is it that when we are young kids, we have no thoughts of danger, or what might happen if we hit a bump and come off our bikes BUT when you get older and I am talking about much older, you see danger around every flippin’ corner.

Slowly, very slowly getting my confidence back, did eight wonderful miles today, could have done more but my partners rear suspension packed up!

Not sure why but I like taking photos into the sun, just messing about with it all, that’s the beauty of digital cameras.

Fabulous winters day, sunny but crisp, I guess temperatures around 40 degrees.

Lovely thinking of the better weather to look forward to and more riding.
