Swimming goggles?

Up until now I have not bothered with goggles in the pool, probably because I do not generally swim for long but now I am enjoying it so much, I thought time for some goggles, so hopefully no more red eyes! ADVICE PLEASE?



Here are a selection I have been looking at, not sure if more expensive means better or not.

I've tried several brands/models (none of the ones you've listed, unfortunately) and have found that Speedo Vanquisher 2.0s work best for me. They don't leak, don't fog, and are remain relatively comfortable during long swims (1+ hrs). That said, I'm a stickler about taking good care of them (rinse them after every swim and never, ever touch the inside of the eye pieces).

I think goggles are one of those personal things. What works for me might not work for you.

Ditto this entire post! I have settled on the Vanquisher 2.0 as well. I just have to be careful to get the strap just right (and not too tight) or they start to injure the skin under my eyes.

Clock - goggles are like saddles. You have to find what works for you as all faces are different!

you really need to try them on. I swam competitively in HS and college and always wore Speedo, but now I can't (they just don't fit anymore). I have better luck with TYR, and have liked my Aquasphere goggles very much, too. I really depends on how they fit your face.

I agree with trying them on. The rule of thumb that I've always heard is...while in the store, take them out of the package and place the goggles on your face but without putting the strap over your head. If the goggles have good suction around your eyes and don't immediately fall off, then it's a "good fit". That's how I've always done it, and for the most part...it works well.

As for a specific brand...I'm partial to Aquasphere. I've been using the Aquasphere Kaimen goggle for several years with good success. I have also tried their Cayenne goggle and liked it, as well. I tend to lean towards goggles that have a 1-piece design, as they feel more comfortable to me. However, your results may vary.

I love you guys out there, I would so love to hear all your different accents too, I have to read in a very strange way, to make it all feel more realistic.

Very often these days, items like goggles are bubble packed so you cannot try them on.

I suppose the type of seal is important and if the anti fog is impregnated into the material and not a coating?

One more sillier question, the metallic/mirro goggles, are they purely for the sun?!

............chuckles to herself, all this and I will be only swimming a mile hopefully but then again, maybe the English Channel sometime.

I just bought a new pair of googles. I was able to try on ~10 pairs- they were all packed in the snap-close bubble packages, not the ones that are crimped shut. I settled on a pair of Aqua Sphere Lady Kayenne. They fit my small face well, I love the ease of adjustment, and they were the most flexible of all the styles and brands I tried.

It's definitely a personal preference thing- have fun shopping!
