2007 Specialized S-Works Ruby..for a Guy

Folks,
I'm a smaller guy with short arms. I've found a used '07 S-Works Ruby for sale but it is out of state....so I can't ride it. Currently riding a XS Giant TCR but the top tube on the Ruby is a tad shorter and the frame is carbon as opposed to the aluminum I now have.

Anyone here have one or tested one in the past? Looking for honest opinions.

I had a 2006 Ruby Comp until I crashed her.

FYI 2007 is the first year of an S-Works model for the Ruby. Has the striaght zertz in the fork and seat stays unlike later models with the "Bubble" zertz. Will be slightly heavier than the current S-Works Ruby (they take weight off each development cycle).

I had a friend who had a 2008 S-Works Ruby in the bubble zertz and she found the bike was too flexi for her powerful output and often felt like the rear wheel it was going to slide from under her (she was riding at elite race level) so ended up swapping the bike. I found on my new 2008 Ruby if I put power down it felt the same.

Good news is that I never had this problem with my 2006 Ruby Comp so therefore niether should the 2007 S-works. Actually it could suit you well as I know guys can power up a bike pretty fast and the stronger/heavier frame could work better for you.

I have a 2007 Ruby Pro and really love it. I have well over 6000 miles on her the last time I looked at my journal and have not a a complaint from day one.

I have a 2007 Ruby Comp that I bought with only 100 miles on it in craigslist in 2009. It now has over 3000 miles on it. I am 5'3" and it is 48cm. The bike is super comfortable and I am very happy with it. Is is a compact double and I found that I did not have enough low gears for the hills in my area, so I changed out the rear cassette for an IRD 12-32 and got a long cage 105 derailleur. Would not have needed to do this if it was a triple, but now it is about equivalent and I prefer the shifting of two rings.

I don't think that women's/ men's bike determination is as relevant as the size and shape of your body. Can you possibly find a small Ruby in a local bike shop to try out and see what size fits you best and get more detailed size info from the seller? It's hard to buy a bike without trying it. I am guessing that the frame shape is similar to all the different Ruby bikes.
