    Wild Goose

Haven't seen any talk lately about who is going.

Can we organize a group kayak session Saturday morning?

Kmehrzad and I are driving down on Friday. I'd be up for kayaking on Saturday. Can't remember where we're staying...

I'm going Friday as well - so would like to paddle in the morning say around 10?

Victoria will be coming with me & will be paddling with you guys. I'm already supposed to meet some friends to paddle - so depending on when & where they're paddling, I may or may not be able to paddle with you guys on Sat morning.

Where are you guys planning to paddle? On the Transquaking again or in Blackwater?

I have no local knowledge to compare the 2 kayaking sites. Either works for me.

Does anyone have a suggestion to meet for dinner on Sat night? Preferably without SCREAMING children?

Ha Ha. For me it's more of old rack installed on new car, and have never finishted the "fitting" for the boat to sit in the saddles/rollers. I think it's close, but no doubt roller and saddle position will need adjustments. Doing this in the rain/dark tonight won't happen. Doing it Friday night in the wind and in the dark may not happen either. So my car will probably be the one with the kayak rack but no kayak. LOL.

to paddle or not to paddle?

OK, I'm convinced. I'll leave the boat at home.

I noticed that the bike routes do not route us through Wildlife Dr as they did the 1st year. Whether 700 or 900 cyclists are too much stress on the wildlife there, or what - but I'll for sure go through there on Sat to watch critters for a while.

    Sissies.

I'm bringing my boats. I'll paddle Saturday, and I'll probably take Victoria out Sunday after the ride if the winds have let up.

    Why????
Where we paddled the other year was pretty protected. The wind shouldn't be a major problem. More of an adventure with the boats as sails on the car than being on the water.

Just make sure to tie down the boats well and the sails isn't a bit deal.

Blackwater river's fairly protected from what I remember.

Either way, excellent day to umbrella sail - just bring a big golf umbrella, hang on to it, and we'll go with the wind and set up a shuttle downstream some distance.

    We'll fly.

Can't say I've ever had problems with the boats on the car in the wind - granted, I do have narrower more aerodynamic yaks than you guys. And I pretty regularly go 80 mph with 2 kayaks on my roof (and have done so for 19 hours straight a couple times) - the wind generated by that speed makes 20-30mph winds insignificant. I generally head for the shore with kayaks and kite surfing stuff if I know there is going to be high winds to go have fun & play in the waves.

Just tether the front & back well, and the straps over the cradles. Rope & a prussik knot works way better than the webbing that is sold to tether the back & front of yaks.
